Why we can no longer offer insurance:
We regret that we are no longer able to insure your items for loss or damage.
Royal Mail Recorded delivery (UK and overseas) does not allow us to insure “Antiques, China, Glass” for loss or breakage. (exception Special Delivery in UK but read on...)
Some items can be insured for loss but unfortunately this is still of no use to us because as a 'Royal Mail Account (Business) customer' we are only able to clam back ‘our cost’ on proof of item cost to us! (not the Value of the item that you have paid) - Unfortunately as our items are generally purchased from house clearance and auction in job lots we do not receive itemised purchase invoices and cannot prove item cost in a way acceptable to Royal Mail.
We have had a series of claims with Royal Mail which they refuse to compensate, so unfortunately we are now unable to offer an insurance service. I hope you understand.
However to keep this in perspective the chances of anything going wrong in our experience is about 1/500 also since we have stopped using recorded for international transactions a lot less seem to go missing! See our feedback.
